Photographer’s Note: An Israeli army patrol slowly drives through a street in Hebron (al-Khalil), while an old Palestinian watches on. I love this picture because it captures the atmosphere of the place: eerily quiet, but with all the signs of tension.
Hebron (al-Khalil) has a heavy presence of Israeli soldiers, as you can see from their installations on the rooftops. They are there to protect a few hundred fanatic Jewish settlers, though at times they've had to protect the Palestinians from the settlers.
