Iranians celebrated the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi, the 12th Shiite saint on Saturday evening.
Every year in Iran, the majority Shiite Muslims hold celebrations to mark the anniversary by decorating streets and major buildings with colourful lights, handing out candy and fruit juice and delivering eulogy to praise this saint.
Shiites also pray for the safety of their saviour Imam and his sooner appearance on this day. Imam Mahdi is the Shiite 12th holy Imam who is believed to be alive but invisible.
Shiites believe Imam Mahdi disappeared centuries ago in the northern Iraqi town of Samarra but is due to return some day as a saviour, enforce justice in the world, clean up the earth's face from tyranny and injustice and change the world into a perfect and just Islamic society along with Jesus Christ.
According to Holy Quran, Jesus Christ is also alive and will reappear with Mahdi to assist him in spreading justice and fighting the unbelievers and oppressors.

Stop Target Killing of Hazaras
Hundreds of protestors from all over UK have gathered outside Pakistan Embassy in London to condemn the wave of killings of Shia Muslims in Pakistan’s conflict-plagued southwestern province of Balochistan.
In the first 2 weeks in April, more than 29 members of the Hazara community in Quetta, Pakistan, were killed in separate incidences of ethnic violence and target killings. Many more were injured as shops, streets and cars were shot and burned. Men, women and children were among the victims.
Over the last 10 years, over 600 Hazaras have been murdered, over 1000 have been permanently disabled by terrorist attacks and over half a million Hazaras continue to be terrorized on a daily basis. Still, the Pakistani government does nothing in protection of its citizens, and the Pakistani media blacks out the events in its reporting.
Despite ongoing protests in many western countries including Australia, England, Germany and Austria, the international community remains silent on this issue.
The Hazara community in Quetta needs immediate and decisive international action.

Muharram, month of grief
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It's a month of remembrance that is often considered synonymous with the event of Ashura. Ashura, which literally means the "Tenth" in Arabic, refers to the tenth day of Muharram. It is well-known because of historical significance and mourning for the martyrdom of the grandson of prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussein ibn Ali, in modern-day Iraq 1,300 years ago.Imam Hossein was martyred in the 680 A.D. battle fought on the plains outside Karbala, a city in modern Iraq that's home to the Imam's holy shrine and where 3 million Shiites gathered Tuesday to mark Ashoura.
"More than 28,000 security forces including back up troops from the interior ministry (police) in Baghdad were sent to control the security of the city," military officials said earlier this week.
The governor of Karbala province, said hundreds of thousands of foreigners had already arrived from countries such as Iran, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan and Tanzania.
In this month, shittes express their grief by sine-zani (beating the chest), zangir-zani (beating oneself with chains) and emerged as common features of the proliferating mourning-processions (dasta-gardani). Mourning for the martyred Imam also takes place in assemblies held in buildings erected especially for the purpose, known either as Hussainia or takia, as well as in mosques and private houses.

Protests have been banned in Bahrain and the military has been ordered to tighten its grip after the violent removal of anti-government demonstrators. Police action was necessary to pull Bahrain back from the “brink of a sectarian abyss”, Bahraini Foreign Minister Khaled bin Ahmed al-Khalifa said. Bahrain’s Shia Muslim majority has been ruled by a Sunni Muslim royal family since the 18th Century.
The announcement on state television said the army had taken control of “key parts” of the city. Tanks, army patrols and military checkpoints are out on key streets, with helicopters deployed overhead. Barbed wire has been erected on roads leading to the main protest area, Pearl Square, and the interior ministry has warned people to stay off the streets.
