Bride of the Desert

Palmyra is Syria’s star tourist attraction and one of the world’s most splendid historical sites.
It was an ancient city in central Syria that was a major trading center during the Roman period and was an important link in the trade between Rome and the Far East. It was an important city located in an oasis 215 km northeast of Damascus.
It had long been a vital caravan stop for travelers crossing the Syrian desert and was known as the Bride of the Desert.
In traveling to Palmyra don't forget the city’s museum, situated between the ruins and the new town, contains many statues and objects, which have been excavated from the site.
